CNA Classes in Nebraska

Nebraska CNA Training

In the current economy, a person needs more than motivation and good intentions to land a job that will allow him or her to provide for their family in the long term. Anyone who has always wanted to work in an industry where you can help people achieve happier, healthier lives, it might be time to consider Nebraska CNA classes. Most CNAs find jobs in nursing homes, hospitals, walk-in clinics, or mental health facilities.

Becoming a CNA in Nebraska

In order to be placed on the Nebraska Nurse Aide Registry, an individual must:

  • Be at least 16 years old
  • Be able to speak and understand English
  • Complete the state- approved 75 hour CNA training program and competency evaluation program within 120 days of employment or 21 hour basic resident care course for intermediate care facilities for the mentally retarded
  • Not have been convicted of a crime rationally related to the role of a CNA involving moral turpitude

After Completing the Training

If an individual successfully completes a CNA training program and passes both the written and skills exams, he or she does not need to submit an application to be added to the CNA registry. These individuals will automatically be added within 30 days of the registry being

Certain individuals may only be required to pass the written or skills exams in order to be added to the CNA registry and may not have to complete a CNA training program. These include:

  • Individuals who are currently enrolled in nursing school. These individuals must submit:
    • A cover letter requesting to be placed on the registry based on nursing school classes
    • A signed copy of the student’s transcripts
    • Abuse Inservice Documentation (Not included in all nursing schools. The individual will be notified if this is required for him or her).
    • Verification of completion of state-approved written and skills exams if grades in any of the required classes were less than 70%
  • Individuals who were trained in the military. These individuals must submit:
    • A cover letter requesting to be placed on the registry based on military training
    • A copy of his or her training records if the individual is still active in the military
    • Abuse Inservice Documentation
  • Individuals who have been trained as a nurse outside the United States. These individuals must submit:
    • A cover letter requesting to be placed on the registry based on foreign nurse training
    • A copy of their certificate of graduation or license translated into in English
    • If applicable, proof of passing the CGFNS exam or Canadian Nurse License exam. If an individual has passed one of these exams, he or she is not required to take the Nebraska CNA exams.
  • Individuals with a lapsed/inactive LPN or RN license. These individuals must submit:
    • A cover letter requesting to be placed on the registry based on having a lapsed/inactive LPN or RN license. This cover letter must also indicate the last time that the individual has worked as a nurse.
    • Abuse Inservice Documentation
    • Proof that the individual has passed the Nebraska written and skills exams for CNAs if it has been more than 24 months that the individual has been paid for nursing or nursing-related services
