The School of Nursing and Health Sciences offers educational opportunities to qualified individuals who seek a career in nursing. A student pursues a planned course of study which will help him/her develop intellectually, emotionally, and socially in preparation for nursing practice as a registered nurse (RN). The nursing program provides curriculum which assists an individual in giving safe, effective nursing care for culturally diverse patients in a variety of health care settings. The registered nurse functions as a member of the healthcare team in promoting and restoring optimal wellness. The program consists of courses in Fundamentals, Health & Physical Assessment, Medical/ Surgical, Mental Health, Maternity/Child & Women’s Health and Pediatric Nursing. A variety of teaching/learning strategies are utilized throughout the program. In addition to classroom hours, the student will participate in clinical, skills and high fidelity simulation, computer laboratory experiences. A grade of 75 or higher in each nursing course must be maintained and all nursing courses must be successfully completed within four years of admission into the nursing program.
