The Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) Program is designed to prepare registered nurses to deliver nursing care in a variety of settings. The graduating nurse will be able to provide nursing care in the hospital, long-term care, clinics, community health, and other health-related facilities. Upon completion of the nursing program, an Associate in Applied Science Degree is awarded by the college. Nursing graduates may apply to take the National Council Licensing Exam-RN (NCLEX-RN) upon graduation.

Minimum admission standards for the Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) Program includes:
Unconditional admission to Alabama Southern Community College.
Receipt of completed application for the ADN Nursing Program by March 1st.
Receipt of high school transcript or copy of GED certificate and all prior official college transcripts.
Minimum of 2.5 GPA (based on the last 24 credit hours) for students with previous college work.
Minimum of 2.5 high school GPA for students without prior college work (GED acceptable).
Student must be eligible for English 101, Math 116, and Anatomy & Physiology I (BIO 201) as determined by Alabama Southern Community College policy.
Good standing with Alabama Southern Community College.
Meeting the essential functions or technical standards required for nursing.
You must have completed the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) prior to application. The TEAS test must have been taken within the last 3 years prior to admission. This test may be repeated only after a 6 week time period has lapsed.

PN Admission Requirements:
Unconditional admission to the college.
Applicants to the PN program must apply by March 1st for admission the following fall semester and November 1st for the following spring semester. There is a waiting list for admission, but the March 1st and November 1st deadline are firm.
Minimum of 2.50 cumulative GPA for students with previous college work.
Minimum of 2.50 high school GPA for students without prior college work (GED acceptable).
Student must be eligible for: (a) English 101 and Math 116 as determined by college policy.
Student must be in good standing with the college.
Meeting the essential functions or technical standards required for nursing.
Admission to the nursing program is contingent upon a health and physical exam and acceptable drug screening results. Once accepted into the PN program, all required paperwork is due on the date of the orientation to the program.
Completion of the Test for Essential Academic Skills (TEAS) current version, prior to admission. The TEAS score is good for three years. A student may repeat the TEAS once during any semester admission time frame. The student must wait at least six (6) weeks between taking each test.
A student's score on a previous version of the TEAS test may be considered at the discretion of each college, if it is within the three year time frame.
