The registered nursing program, fully accredited by the California Board of Registered Nursing, is a two-semester program offered every year starting spring semester. California licensed vocational nurses and graduates from accredited vocational nursing prorgrams are eligible to apply upon completion of AHC program prerequisites.
Completion of 26 units plus additional general education requirements are necessary for the associate in science degree in registered nursing. A total of 30 units is required for the certificate in registered nursing.
The licensed vocational nursing program is a twelve-month program offered every year, January through December (including summer session). Current California Certified Nursing Assistants who have completed program prerequisites are eligible to apply. The curriculum is designed to prepare the CNA to function as a LVN. Students must complete the state mandated hours in classroom and hospital experience in order to be eligible to take the state board examination required for licensure. The Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians (BVNPT) has fully accredited this program. Students accepted into the program must comply with background checks and drug screening required by clinical agencies.
The following courses or programs must be completed with a grade of “C” or better by the end of the application deadline.
• Current California CNA
• English 101
• Biology 124 and 125
• Math 331
• Psychology 101 is required for LVN Boards
• NUR 310 Pharmacology (Must be completed by those accepted to the program in the fall prior to the January program start date)
