The SON curriculum is developed, implemented, and revised to reflect clear statements of expected student learning outcomes that are consistent with professional nursing standards and guidelines and congruent with the program’s mission/philosophy, goals, and expected outcomes. The link between the AUHS’ mission, the SON’s mission and philosophy and Nursing Professional Standards is demonstrated through the interpretation of jointly held beliefs and values. The professional value of caring, the core competencies of critical thinking, application of research-based nursing knowledge, communication, cultural competency, and technical nursing skills to guide the development of a professional provider of care are inherently present in the stated conceptual themes.
