The Vocational Nursing Program - Crockett, Lufkin and Jasper campuses prepares the graduate to independently perform basic nursing skills in non-complex situations and to assist the registered nurse or physician in complicated circumstances.
Courses begin in the spring semester and conclude at the end of the fall session for a total of 45 semester credit hours. A certificate of completion is awarded upon successful completion of course requirements. Graduates are eligible to apply for licensure by examination through the Board of Nurse Examiners.
Accreditation:
The Vocational Nursing program is accredited by the
Texas Board of Nursing (BON).
Admission Criteria:
-Gain admission to the college.
-Attend a mandatory information session at the campus of your choice to obtain an application.
-Pass the A2 Admission Test with the following minimum scores:
a. Math - 60%
b. Reading - 60%
-A2 Admission Test dates
-Submit completed application packet by designated deadline.
-Submit American Heart Association CPR Health Care Provider card with application
-Complete Hepatitis B vaccine series by first clinical day (Requires 6 months)
-Applicants will be ranked and selected on:
a. Composite A2 Admission Test Scores
b. Completion of ALL requirements by posted deadlines.
-Applicants will be notified of admission decision by letter by the end of October.
