The Practical Nurse Program is approved by the Florida Board of Nursing and is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission, Inc.
A licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for patient care and works under the supervision of a registered nurse, physician, in hospitals, medical care clinics, physician's offices, home health and hospice agencies, schools as well as in private duty practice, Nursing Homes, and Rehabilitation Centers.
Applicants should have the ability to handle responsibility and be interested in caring for patients of all ages.
The Practical Nurse (PN) Program content includes, but is not limited to:
-Theoretical instruction and clinical experience in medical, surgical, obstetric, pediatric and geriatric nursing
-Theoretical instruction and clinical experience in both acute and long-term care situations
-Theoretical instruction and clinical application of vocational role and function
-Personal, family and community health concepts
-Nutrition
-Human growth and development over the life span
-Body Structure and function
-Interpersonal relationship skills
-Mental Health Concepts
-Pharmacology and administration of medications
-Legal aspects of practice
-CPR
-Computer and employability skills
