The aim of the Buchanan County Practical Nursing Program is to introduce qualified applicants to nursing situations in which they have an opportunity to develop into beginning practitioners of practical nursing.
At completion of the Practical Nursing Program, the individual is able to function in nursing situations relatively free of complexities and to assist in more complex situations. He/She will be involved in a vocation which allows for the practice of nursing under the supervision of a registered professional nurse and/or licensed physician.
The student will be a candidate for graduation after completion of all classroom and clinical work with the maintenance of an 80 average or above in all nursing courses. Any school property must be returned and all fees paid before graduation. The faculty will plan the graduation ceremony. A school pin and diploma will be awarded at the graduation ceremony.
The graduate will be required to pass the selected State Board Examination in order to work as a Licensed Practical Nurse or L.P.N.
