RN to BSN Program Details

The School of Nursing at California State University, Fullerton, attracts motivated and capable nurses committed to improving professional nursing and health care through clinical practice, health education, leadership and management. This upper-division nursing degree program is specifically designed for registered nurses wishing to advance their career through a program of study leading to a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, including eligibility for certification in public health through the State of California. We facilitate and support educational mobility and leadership abilities for nurses who have a foundation in the profession that was obtained through an associate degree or diploma program. While the program can entail four semesters of full-time study, courses are offered to allow part-time study for the working nurses as well. The program is fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.

BSN Courses focus on:

-The theoretical basis of nursing
-Developmental life cycle concepts from the prenatal period through death
-Health promotion and health assessment
-Critical analysis and design of nursing interventions to maintain or restore health
-Health teaching and counseling
-Group, family and community systems and their dynamics
-Professional, leadership and management issues
-Critical inquiry and research

Doctor of Nursing Practice Program Details

The DNP is a practice-oriented doctorate, such as the Doctor of Pharmacy, Doctor of Medicine (MD), Doctor of Optometry, or Doctor of Physical Therapy, in contrast to the research-oriented PhD. The purposes of the DNP are to develop advanced competencies for increasingly complex practice, faculty, and leadership roles in nursing and to provide an advanced educational credential for those in advanced practice.
