MSN Program Details
The Department of Nursing offers a graduate program leading to a Master of Science in Nursing with a clinical focus in population-based (advanced public/community health) nursing. Students select a population of focus and are prepared to assume leadership roles in the creation of health care systems which will provide equality of access, high standards of care and caring, and the cost-effective use of resources.
The concentration in Academic Education prepares Nursing Faculty to teach in Nursing Programs at both community college and four-year universities. This program is also appropriate for advanced practice nurses interested in population health education and health education programming.
The concentration in School Nursing meets the California State requirements for the School Nurse Credential. The graduate will concurrently receive the Master of Science in Nursing and the School Nurse Credential. Contact the department for program start date.
Graduates who complete the Advanced Public Health requirements should speak to their advisor regarding preparation and credentialing information for the National Board Certification in public/community health nursing.
