If you are an RN who is seeking a Bachelors Degree in Nursing, Carson-Newman can make your dreams come true. After completion of the prerequisites to nursing and two professional nursing courses, you can earn your Bachelor of Science in Nursing in as little as one year of full-time study. Part-time study is also available.
BSN Program Details
The Carson-Newman College Department of Undergraduate Studies in Nursing offers studies toward a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in three formats, traditional, accelerated, and second degree programs. The traditional program consists of 8 semesters over four years with upper School nursing beginning in January. The accelerated program can be completed in 8 continuous semesters with an August entry into upper School nursing courses. The second degree program is a 15 month program with a May entry.
Carson-Newman College Department of Nursing offers a rigorous baccalaureate nursing curriculum that includes academic and clinical performance requirements. To be awarded a bachelor’s degree in nursing, the student must successfully complete both elements of the program. Students who receive a nursing degree from Carson-Newman College will have been exposed to the skills and knowledge necessary to attain licensure and to perform the clinical tasks normally expected of registered nurses. Successfully attaining licensure and securing employment as a nurse is entirely dependent on the efforts of the graduate and the economic forces influencing the health care industry. These factors are beyond the control of the Carson-Newman College School of Nursing and Behavioral Health.
The BSN Program is fully accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and approved by the Tennessee Board of Nursing.
Accelerated BSN Program Details
The Accelerated Nursing Program at Carson-Newman College will enable you to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. The curriculum is designed to give you a balance of general education courses along with nursing courses. The program can be completed in eight continuous semesters with an August entry into clinical nursing courses that will prepare you for the state licensure examination for Registered Nurses.
Baccalaureate education in nursing is comprised of liberal arts and sciences, humanities and nursing. The purpose is to prepare a professional who functions autonomously with a focus on the health care needs of clients of all ages in a variety of settings. The baccalaureate nurse explains the rationale for nursing actions and collaborates with the client to determine acceptable outcomes. An integral part of baccalaureate preparation in nursing is the ability to apply knowledge to the promotion of client health.
