Cisco College has two program options for persons seeking an Associate Degree in Nursing. Completion of either option allows the graduate to seek state licensure as a registered nurse. Individuals with no previous nursing licenses can enroll in the generic two-year option. Persons licensed as vocational nurses can enroll in the LVN-RN option.
The LVN-RN option is a one-year program for licensed vocational nurses leading to an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Nursing. Licensure as a registered nurse must be granted by the Board of Nursing for the State of Texas. Applicants to the program must be graduates of a state-approved vocational/practical nursing program, be currently licensed in Texas and must have completed the required prerequisite courses with a GPA of 2.0 or better.
The generic two-year option is designed for individuals not licensed as a nurse. It leads to an AAS, which prepares the graduate to take state licensing exams.
