Thank you for your interest in the Associate Degree Nursing Program of Coahoma Community College. The RN program has two programs of study. The traditional 3 year program is a six semester and one summer program. Students are exposed to clinical experiences which include direct patient care and clinical simulations. The school of nursing lab is equipped with virtual simulators. Students have the opportunity to obtain an additional optional summer externship course. The LPN/RN Fast track program allows LPN’s with one year of continuous practice to complete coursework and be eligible to write for the NCLEX-RN in 11 months.
The ADN program:
-Awards an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Nursing to its graduates
-Is a program that continually concentrates on providing an educational program that is clearly excellent and responsive to the needs of the community
-Believes that students should be active participants in their own learning
-Is small enough to know each student as a unique individual
-Offers planned teaching-learning experiences in the classroom, skills laboratory, and clinical setting each semester
We are creating an environment that shifts from the traditional faculty-student framework to one in which the student is a partner in the teaching-learning process. The school of nursing atmosphere is student friendly and future-oriented. Any prospective student will be joining a community of committed faculty with strong clinical expertise that will prepare the graduate to enter the nursing workforce. The faculty continually provides the most current information, trends, and requirements that promote a healthy transition to practice a successful career.
Practical Nursing is a twelve-month certificate program. The Practical Nursing program prepares students to assist in providing general nursing care under the direction of a registered nurse, physician, or dentist.
Graduates of the Practical Nursing program will be awarded the Certificate of Practical Nursing and may apply for licensure to the Mississippi Board of Nursing and will be eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX)-PN.
The LPN program taught at Coahoma Community College is selective and competitive like other programs around the State. We are limited to 30 students in the Fall program and 30 students in the Spring progam.
