Nursing Mission Statement: "To provide an environment which enables students to evolve personally and professionally through the acquisition of knowledge and skills as applied to the practice of nursing."
Upon completion of the program, graduates will function independently, identifying potential health problems, providing health teaching and counseling, giving restorative and supportive care, and executing prescribed nursing and medical regimes. A strong math and science background, along with basic knowledge on keyboarding, word processing, Internet, and computer use, is important for success in the nursing program. Successful completion of this program enables graduates to take the National Council Licensing Examination for Registered Nurse. Graduates are employed in a variety of settings including hospitals, schools, long term care facilities, physician offices and home health. Graduates can easily transfer to a four-year institution for their bachelor's degree.
Students must apply and be accepted at the college. At that time students will be accepted into the Nursing program and into the Directed Studies program. HOWEVER, before a student can begin any nursing course they must complete certain prerequisites and submit either a "Nursing I Eligibility Packet" or the "LPN Advanced Placement Packet" to the Nurse Education Department. Included in both the Nursing I Eligibility Packet and the LPN Advanced Placement Packet, you will find information regarding the prerequisites required. Also you will find detailed information on criminal background and Pennsylvania child abuse screenings. Below you will find links to these documents. For further information please contact the Nurse Education Department.
