Nursing Programs Offered

ADN Program Details

The Associate Degree Nursing program is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission* and approved by the Ohio Board of Nursing. It can be completed in two years.

Graduates receive the Associate of Applied Science degree and are eligible to take the National Council Licensing Exam (NCLEX) for licensure as registered nurses.** Such nurses are prepared to provide direct care to persons with common short-term and long-term illnesses.

The program consists of sequential courses which require five consecutive terms to complete. To extend the nursing program over more than two years, a person may take one, two, or three general studies or science classes per semester prior to applying for admission to the nursing program.

Continuation in and graduation from the nursing program is contingent upon the student earning a grade of at least “C” in each nursing, microbiology and anatomy and physiology course.

Classes are held in classrooms and laboratories, while area hospitals, community centers, and nursing homes provide clinical training sites.

Information about admission to the nursing program is found in the College Catalog under the Admissions and Registration section. Application packets are available from the Nursing Office, Admissions Office, and the Darke County Center. Selection of the class to start nursing classes in August will be made in March each year. Applicants will be notified by March 1.

Possible job titles in Registered Nursing include: Staff nurse in hospitals, clinics, physicians’ offices, home health, long term care and health care settings.
