The Deicke Center of Nursing Education baccalaureate program offers an option leading to the bachelor of science degree with a major in nursing for registered nurses who are graduates of associate degree nursing programs or hospital schools of nursing.
The RN/BS student must meet the following criteria for admission to the nursing program:
-12 courses completed, including courses in six general education categories and college-level mathematics
-A combined grade-point average of 2.75 or above
-Completion of all prerequisite courses, except CHM 103
-A grade of C or better in all prerequisite courses
-Current unencumbered R.N. licensure in the State of Illinois
Nursing majors at Elmhurst spend their first two years studying biology, chemistry, communication, and psychology. They also work closely with their advisors to construct a schedule of other relevant courses that will provide them with a solid base of knowledge.
Students officially enter the nursing program if they have met the requirements and have been accepted.
Elmhurst nursing graduates are awarded the Bachelor of Science degree with a major in nursing. They are then eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN), which enables them to receive their licenses as registered nurses (RNs).
The RN–MSN Option is designed for registered nurses (RNs) with baccalaureate degrees outside of nursing. This is an entry option to the graduate program and emphasizes achievement of baccalaureate competencies in nursing. Select courses have been identified as the bridge to baccalaureate competencies and preparation to proceed to graduate-level education in nursing.
