The College of Nursing and Health Sciences (CNHS) offers a professional program of study leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). The BSN program was approved by the Board of Regents of the State University System in 1982. The program is open to non-RN (basic/generic) and RN students.
Upon graduation, Basic (Generic BSN) students and Foreign-Educated Physician - BSN students are eligible to write the NCLEX (RN licensing examination) to become registered nurses. The College also offers a track for registered nurses to complete the BSN degree. To accommodate the adult learner, nursing courses in the curriculum may be offered web enhanced or completely online. Graduates of the RN to BSN program are eligible to apply for graduate programs with advanced nursing degrees, such as MSN, DNP, or BSN to PhD.

The Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) is a program of graduate doctoral study for the registered nurse with specialty preparation in advanced nursing practice. The DNP program of study builds upon the clinical specialization to include study of: advanced specialty practice; systematic practice and program outcome evaluation; application of health information resources; development of safe, equitable, and cost effective health policy; innovation, implementation and evaluation of care delivery models; leadership development in health care delivery and clinical expertise for advanced nursing practice and education. The goals of the DNP program are to prepare nurses for leadership roles in a specialized area of advanced nursing practice with an emphasis on: philosophical, ethical, and scientific principles that provide the foundation for leadership in professional nursing care; continued acquisition of knowledge and clinical skills in an area of advanced practice specialization; and leadership and clinical expertise in healthcare delivery, evaluation, quality improvement and advanced practice nursing education.
