The Nursing Department at Fort Scott Community College offers an Associate of Applied Science degree in nursing following pre-requisite courses and four semesters of nursing courses. The nursing program is approved by the Kansas State Board of Nursing and is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission.
Graduates are eligible to write the national licensing exam for registered nurses (NCLEX-RN) and to apply for state licensure as an RN. A graduate is prepared for beginning staff nurse positions in various healthcare settings and to deliver nursing care to individuals and groups within a structured setting as a member of the healthcare team in order to promote health and wellness.
The Nursing Department participates in the Kansas Articulation Plan whereby LPNs holding a Kansas license may continue their studies at FSCC to obtain their AAS in nursing, and graduates of FSCC may continue their studies at any of the state’s 12 colleges and universities to obtain their Bachelor of Science degree in nursing.
