LPN Program Details
Vocational nurses are a vital member of the health team, providing direct patient care in acute, long-term care, and convalescent hospitals. Licensed vocational nurses administer medications, provide bedside care, do treatments, do health teaching, and perform other technical nursing skills under the direction of a physician and/or a registered nurse. Graduates are eligible to take the national licensure examination and qualify for one year of credit toward registered nursing program at local community colleges and some universities. Job prospects for graduates are excellent.
Students must be 18 years of age or older by program start date. The program is three semesters in length, excluding summers. Class Schedules vary from semester to semester, with five to eight hours of class daily, Monday through Friday, usually between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. You must be available for all shifts. Evening hours may be required. Full-time employment is discouraged.
