ADN Program Details

The associate degree in nursing program prepares individuals to take the NCLEX-RN exam for licensure as a registered nurse (RN). Registered nurses provide health care to injured, sick and healthy people in a variety of medical, business, and community settings. Our philosophy and mission guides the faculty in providing quality educational opportunities, which promote self-care in the individuals, families, and communities served by the college.

LPN Program Details

The practical nursing program is designed to provide a career ladder as a preparation for advancement to a professional nursing program. Individuals completing the practical nursing curriculum meet the educational requirements for eligibility to take the NCLEX-PN exam to become a licensed practical nurse (LPN).

Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) work under the supervision of doctors and registered nurses in a variety of settings. Aside from knowledge of medical terminology, equipment, medication preparation, and administration, LPNs must have good communication skills to work well with patients, staff, and families. Documentation of care is also an important part of the LPN role. LPNs must have good judgment skills and be mature and flexible in order to work in a stressful environment.

Licensed practical nurses working in Illinois must complete a state approved program and pass the NCLEX-PN exam. Some LPNs choose to acquire additional training in order to meet the requirements for registered nursing. The Illinois Center for Nursing can provide you with statewide information about nursing.
