Jacksonville State University is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools to award the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree through the STEP (RN-BSN) Program, which is also accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
Jacksonville State University's Lurleen B. Wallace College of Nursing and Health Sciences supports the concept of career mobility for individuals holding an associate degree or diploma in nursing. The faculty have developed a quality, flexible, cost effective, and convenient means for registered nurses to obtain the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree. Strategic Teaching for Enhanced Professional Preparation (STEP) is designed to enable students to achieve their educational goals while fulfilling their personal and occupational responsibilities.
Courses in the professional component of our BSN program are delivered through Internet and CD-ROM. After completion of general studies requirements, nursing courses may be completed in one calendar year online.

BSN Program Details
The Lurleen B. Wallace College of Nursing and Health Sciences offers a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree, which enables the program graduate to apply to take the registered nurse (RN) licensure examination. Students begin the nursing program by taking academic, prerequisite courses (see plan of study below); a separate application is filed to request admission into the clinical portion (upper division) of nursing. Students are admitted to the upper division of nursing in the spring and fall of each year. Those seeking admission to nursing must contact the Director of Student Services at the College of Nursing and Health Sciences at least three months prior to date of entry to establish records for acceptance and complete the application process.

ACT or SAT scores and official transcripts from high school if you are just starting college or are transferring less than 24 hours from another college
Official transcripts from each college or university attended
Completion of all prerequisite courses with "C" or better
Minimum 2.5 GPA on prerequisite courses
Each student's record will be reviewed as a basis for acceptance
A student who has been enrolled in any upper division nursing program (RN or LPN) and was unsuccessful in progressing satisfactorily in that program is not eligible to apply
Students who have English as a second language must present a minimum score of the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) exam taken within two years. To be eligible to apply for admission to upper division, minimum scores are: 560 for the TOEFL Written (paper based), 220 for the TOEFL CBT (computer based), and 83 for the iBT (internet based)
