This is a selective admission program. You must meet one or more of the following requirements to be eligible.
Grade Point Average (GPA) or GED Score
Grades below "C" are not accepted.
College GPA will be used if you have 12 or more college credits required for the program at the time of application.
You must have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above to make application.
High school GPA/GED scores will be used if you have fewer than 12 college credits at the time of application.
The following minimum scores must be met to be considered a qualified applicant:
College GPA of 2.8 or higher. The GPA is calculated only on course work required for the program that has been completed by the application deadline.
High school GPA of 2.8 or higher. (non-weighted and based on 4.0 scale)
Your GED Standard score must be no lower than 500 on each section.
ACT (American College Test) Scores
(This requirement may not be waived.) The following minimum scores must be met to be considered a qualified applicant. (Please Note: Minimum scores do not guarantee admission to the program.)
ACT composite score: 17 or higher
ACT science reasoning score: 18 or higher
The ACT test must be taken within three years of the application deadline. Applicants with an Associate of Science degree, Associate of Applied Science degree, Associate of Arts degree or higher may use ACT scores older than three years. Degrees must be received from an approved, accredited college or university.
Results are required prior to the deadline date and are one part of the selection criteria.
SAT results may not be substituted.
The test may be taken more than once; the highest scores will be used.
Interview
The college reserves the right to limit the number of applicants interviewed if more than 110 qualified applications are received. The top 110 candidates will be interviewed in order of ranking based on GPA and ACT scores.
The application for admission will be academically evaluated after the January 15 deadline providing that all required documents (see page 2) have been received. Applicants will be notified by mail whether or not they have successfully met the interview criteria.
Final Selection into the Program
Final selection will be based upon total ranking criteria of each applicant as follows:
The academic assessment includes ACT science test scores and GPA based only on course work (or GED score) required for the program that has been completed by the application deadline. The academic assessment will contribute 60 percent to the final ranking. (If you have 12 or more applicable college credits, your college GPA will be used for ranking purposes.)
The interview will contribute 40 percent to the final ranking.
Johnson County and Kansas residents will be given priority consideration. County residency must be established six (6) months prior to the January 15 application deadline to qualify for these additional points.

Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS)
Composite reading score of 66% or higher and composite math score of 40% or higher. If you have taken the TEAS within the last three years, you may use that score. You may take the TEAS at the JCCC Testing Services office.
Prerequisite Courses
You must have completed following prerequisite courses with a grade of "C" or higher and a cumulative academic GPA of 2.0 or better::
BIOL 144 Human Anatomy and Physiology - If courses are taken separately, labs must be a component of each course. (5 cr hrs)
PSYC 130 Introduction to Psychology (3 cr hrs)
You must be currently enrolled in OR have completed the following with a grade of "C" or higher and a cumulative academic GPA of 2.0 or better:
