The Practical Nursing Program is committed to providing a student learning environment that encourages and assesses critical thinking, clinical competence, professional accountability and effective communication skills. We believe these attributes will prepare our graduates to pass the NCLEX-PN, and utilize the nursing process to identify basic needs of the client, provide safe and skillful therapeutic care in simple nursing situations while collaborating with members of the multidisciplinary health care team.
The Practical Nursing Program is designed to prepare students to function as entry-level practical nurses. Course work is directed toward assisting graduates to pass the National Council of Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses. The program is approved by the Kansas State Board of Nursing. Applications are due November 15th for the spring semester and June 15th for the fall semester. Should these days fall on a weekend, the application will be due the Friday prior to the deadline dates. For specific criteria and procedures for admission, consult a Counselor or the Director of Practical Nursing Program.
Students must complete the 48 hours for the program to be eligible to take the PN licensure exam. A minimum C grade in all course work is required.
