The mission of the Department of Nursing at Kingsborough Community College is to educate individuals of varied ethnic and sociocultural backgrounds to practice nursing in a variety of settings. The Department’s mission is guided by the KCC Vision Statement, adopted 6/6/01, which focuses on the question “How do our individual and collective actions contribute to student learning?”
Kingsborough Community College offers a Nursing program that is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) and approved by the New York State Education Department. The graduate receives an Associate in Applied Science Degree and is eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN). In order to be licensed as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State you must:
-be of good moral character
-be at least eighteen years of age
-meet professional education and examination requirements
