The purpose of associate degree nursing is to prepare graduates who apply the nursing process in the provision of direct nursing care in diverse settings where policies and procedures are specified and guidance is available. Therefore, the associate curriculum is grounded in the liberal arts and includes professional values, core competencies, core knowledge and role development. The associate degree graduate is prepared to function as a provider of care, a member of the profession and a manager of care in acute and community based settings.
The Department of Nursing Science at Lincoln University offers a BSN Completion Program, which is hybrid in nature offering some general education courses online, as well, as on campus. Didactic BSN nursing courses are entirely online. Practicum courses are online, practicums are supervised by approved preceptors with oversight by BSN faculty, and students are required to participate in on-campus activities, such as, projects or presentations. BSN courses are delivered online using CMS software. This program is designed for Associate Degree and Diploma RNs who wish to further their education. This program was initiated in 1992 in response to request from the community and former associate degree graduates of Lincoln University.
