This program is only open to Loudoun County residents. Applications along with registration for the TEAS test begins the first business day in January.
1. The program is eighteen months in length with a new class beginning each fall following the Loudoun County Public School calendar. PN I is the first nine months of the program and consists of six hours per day of instruction at the Charles S. Monroe Technology Center, every other day or “A” day in the Loudoun County Public Schools System. PN II is the second nine months and consists of a full day, five days per week schedule of clinical experience at Inova Loudoun Hospital and selected community facilities. Classroom instruction is provided at the Charles S. Monroe Technology Center.
2. Tuition fee for adults is $500.00 per year. This does not include the cost of textbooks. Some of the other expenses for the two years are review courses, phlebotomy course, lab fees, malpractice insurance, criminal background check, school pin and graduation fees. Total expenses should average $2500 to $3000 for all program expenses. High school students are not required to pay tuition, but must purchase their textbooks during the second year of the program. Each student is requried to purchase their own uniform, shoes and personal equipment such as a stethoscope and watch. Each student must provided proof of medical insurance.
3. Following completion of the program, graduates must apply to the Board of Nursing to write the NCLEX-PN licensing examination. Fees are paid directly to the Board and to the testing agency. Exams are given in many area locations throughout the year. Previous criminal convictions may require special investigation by the Board of Nursing for the applicant to be eligible to take the examination.
