Registered nursing is one of today's most in-demand careers. And with its experienced faculty, state-of-the art facilities and reputation for producing highly qualified nurses, Mercyhurst North East is one of the most trusted providers of two-year registered nursing education in the region.
This associate degree program, which is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission, prepares students for licensure as a registered professional nurse (RN). Mercyhurst North East offers two options for its RN program: a seven-term, full-time, weekday program, and a 10-term, part-time, evening and weekend program.
Upon completion of the program, graduates are eligible to write the National Council Licensure Examination-RN (NCLEX-RN) for licensure as a professional registered nurse.
Mercyhurst North East can help you make that move with its first-ever bachelor’s degree, a RN to BSN Completion Program. Students will have the opportunity to complete the necessary coursework weekday evenings (most likely Tuesday and Thursday nights), making it convenient for those trying to balance careers, families and school.
The program is made up of 52 credits.
Earning a BSN will allow students to advance their practice as nurses able to perform effectively in the ever-changing healthcare delivery system as professional and competent mid-level practitioners.. Graduates will also be qualified to pursue advanced level professional and educational opportunities.
Mercyhurst North East’s RN to BSN program is unique in that RNs with either an ASN or Diploma are eligible. It’s also unique because of its seven term system; a schedule that will help students spread their workload out, but still complete the program in two years.
This program highlights the commitment to the mission of Mercyhurst by providing educational opportunities for enriching careers and recognizing our obligation to the local community by meeting its current occupational needs.
Nursing is one of the most respected professions in the world. And Mercyhurst North East offers the most trusted and respected practical nursing program in the greater Erie area. With an experienced faculty and a strong reputation for producing highly qualified nurses, if you want to become a practical nurse, you'll want to choose MNE to make it happen.
This one-year certificate program prepares students for licensure as a licensed practical nurse (LPN). LPNs are vital members of healthcare teams, caring for the sick, injured, convalescent, and disabled under the direction of physicians and registered nurses. Through classroom work, use of the on-campus nursing facilities, and clinical rotation at area healthcare facilities, students are prepared to provide basic bedside care to patients. This includes taking vital signs, giving injections, administering medication and immunizations, carrying out therapeutic treatments, and performing other basic medical procedures. In addition to providing routine beside care, LPNs in nursing care facilities help evaluate residents’ needs, develop care plans, and supervise the care provided by nursing aides. In doctors’ offices and clinics, they also may make appointments, keep records, and perform other clerical duties. LPNs who work in private homes may prepare meals and teach family members simple nursing tasks.
