The Practical Nursing Program provides educational opportunities for personal as well as intellectual development to help meet the health care needs of the community. The Practical Nursing Program is accredited by the State of Mississippi Department of Education through the State Board for Community and Junior Colleges and by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission, 3343 Peachtree Road NE, Suite 850, Atlanta, GA 30326, 1 404 975-5000.
The Practical Nursing Program is a one-year certificate program. The program of learning is designed to teach the student basic nursing skills in the college laboratory and by caring for patients in affiliated clinical agencies. Upon completion of the program, graduates will be eligible to apply to the Mississippi Board of Nursing to write the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN)®, a national examination for licensure.
