The Associate Degree Nursing Program is a two-year curriculum which leads to an Associate in Applied Science Degree. The curriculum, which includes classroom, campus skills labs, and clinical agency learning experiences, is designed to provide opportunities for students to complete the program and make application to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses. Graduates who meet eligibility requirements as mandated by the state of initial licensure and who successfully complete the licensure examination are eligible to begin practice as registered nurses.
The Bridge entry is based on a mobility curriculum with summer bridge or transition courses that allow LVNs (Licensed Vocational Nurses) to "bridge" the gap between Vocational Nursing Education and the second year of the Associate Degree Nursing Program.
The 12-month curriculum in Vocational Nursing leads to a Certificate of Completion and prepares gradutes to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses. Successful completion of the examination will allow graduates to practice as a licensed vocational nurse in the State of Texas. The curriculum is approved by theTexas Board of Nursing and the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.
Admission to the Vocational Nursing Program is a separate procedure from admission to Navarro College. Applicants must first meet all admission criteria for Navarro College. After acceptance as a student by Navarro College, a student is then eligible to seek admission to the Vocational Nursing Program. Admission to the Vocational Nursing Program is based on a competitive basis. A new class is accepted for admission into the program each fall at each of the three campuses (Corsicana, Waxahachie, Mexia).
