Nursing Programs Offered

LPN Program Details

The Practical Nursing Program is fully approved by the Missouri State Board of Nursing and is accredited by the State Department of Elementary and Secondary Education of Missouri and North Central Accreditation Agency Association. Maximum yearly enrollment is thirty (30) students.

Upon completion of the program, the graduate will be eligible to make application to write the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nursing called the NCLEX-PN. Successful completion of the program does not guarantee eligibility to take the licensure exam.

The Practical Nursing Program was established in 1963 and financed for five years by the federal government under the Manpower Development and Training Act, and locally by the Nevada R-5 School District. In 1973 the Nevada Area Vocational-Technical School (now called the Nevada Regional Technical Center) was established and the Practical Nursing Program has been a part of the school since that time.

The Practical Nursing Program consists of 1,500 hours course of study with clinical experiences designed to attract those persons who find satisfaction in nursing functions which are consistent with this type of preparation. No student will be admitted to the program after five days from program start date to be in compliance with Missouri State Board (MSBN) regulations. Clinical affiliations are with Nevada Regional Medical Center, Barone Alzheimer’s Unit, Moore-Few Care Center, Bates County Memorial Hospital, Barton County Memorial Hospital, Medicalodge of Butler and Nevada, Stockton Nursing Home, Community Springs Care Center, Christian Health Care, Truman Healthcare and Rehab, Nevada Medical Clinic, Appleton City Manor, Ellett Memorial Hospital, Bates and Vernon County Health Department and the public school systems in Nevada, Butler and Lamar and Vernon county Ambulance District.
