Graduates of the Practical Nursing program are prepared at the beginning level to be competent, caring members of the health care team. They are capable of functioning effectively in the roles of caregiver, advocate, educator and health care team members. The 11-month program begins in August with graduation the following June. Classes meet Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. in Northland Career Center classrooms. Times may vary when assigned to clinical areas. Graduates of this program are eligible to apply to the Missouri State Board of Nursing for permission to take the licensing examination.
Admission Requirements:
-18 years of age or older by graduation
-High school graduate or have GED
-Valid social security number
-Written application form completed
-Three reference forms evidencing good moral character, reliability, honesty and dependability
-Earn a passing score on the TEAS test
-Pass drug screen, background and EDL checks
-Attend a NCC Finanical Aid workshop
-Submit a signed statement declaring there is no known reason to deny licensure under the Nurse Practice Act 335.066
