Our nursing program provides you with the knowledge, skills, and professional values required to become a successful nurse. Our graduates become nurse leaders who assume the roles of caregiver, team member, teacher, advocate, and leader.
Clinical experience and a simulation lab supplement classroom instruction and discussion to hone your skills and provide real-world understanding.
Nursing students are introduced to their first clinical experience in their second year to learn health and physical assessment skills and applying them in community settings. During the second semester of your sophomore year, the focus shifts to rehabilitation nursing, and the application of basic nursing skills in in-patient settings.
To ensure that you receive the most well-rounded training possible, we focus on routine nursing care as well as care of acutely ill adult clients and those with mental health issues. Nursing care of the well child and routine obstetrical nursing are also studied.
As you progress through the program, your responsibilities increase. The final year of the program examines the complexity of care of older adults, acutely ill children, and high-risk obstetrical clients. Your final semester focuses on leadership and management skills, community health nursing. We emphasize preparation for the National Council Licensure Examination throughout the curriculum.
