The Elizabeth Akers Elliott Nursing Program is a two-year (four-semester) program leading to an Associate of Science Degree, with a major in nursing. In addition, the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is eligible to earn an Associate of Science Degree in nursing in one year (two semesters), once admitted to the LPN to RN program of study.
Nursing coursework takes place in campus lecture, computer and skills laboratory classrooms as well as a variety of health care facilities. The nursing program is occupational in nature, which is designed as non-transfer for those who want to enter the RN workforce after graduation and with passage of NCLEX-RN. However, the graduate also may be eligible to transfer their earned credit hours toward an RN-to-BSN or RN-to-MSN completion program, contingent upon that institution’s admission criteria. An RN with an Associate Degree is qualified as a provider of care, manager of care and member of the health care team.
Any required support course may be taken prior to admission to the nursing program. However, this does not guarantee admission to the nursing program. Nursing (NUR) courses can only be taken after admission to the nursing program in a predetermined sequence.
