Our Practical Nursing program prepares graduates to be career health team members within the discipline of nursing in a variety of structured health care settings.
After successful completion, our graduates will be eligible to apply to the Oregon State Board of Nursing (OSBN) for the national licensure exam for practical nurses (NCLEX-PN). Once licensed, graduates may be employed as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
Graduates are given the additional opportunity to achieve an optional national certification in Gerontology and IV Therapy by the National Federation of Licensed Practical Nursing, Inc. (NFLPN).
Students will gain on-the-job experience in the clinical phases of nursing. This is done in interdisciplinary settings of hospitals, long-term care, and other community health facilities under the supervision of qualified nursing faculty.
Students learn not only in the classroom, but also in a laboratory which simulates the facilities, equipment and records found in both the clinical and administrative areas of ambulatory care centers.
Upon completion of this program, you will be able to care for the sick, injured, convalescent and disabled under the direction of physicians and registered nurses.
