The baccalaureate program is designed to meet the needs of generic students, who are beginning their education in nursing, and also to provide an opportunity for diploma or associate degree registered nurses (RNs) to pursue a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. The curriculum requirements are the same for the generic, LVN and RN student groups, but the program methodology to achieve degree requirements differs. The baccalaureate program in nursing is designed to meet the needs of students who choose nursing as a major as freshmen; registered nurses who hold a diploma or associate degree in nursing; and., also for licensed vocational nurses. The curriculum requirements are the same for all student groups, however, the program’s methodology varies to meet the needs of the learner.
The Master’s of Science in Nursing Degree Program builds upon baccalaureate nursing education and can be obtained in the following areas: Family Nurse Practitioner, Nurse Education, and Nurse Administration. Students have opportunities to practice using the latest health care research and technology. The Family Nurse Practitioner program’s curriculum is designed to prepare graduates as advanced practice nurses to deliver primary health care and services to individuals, families, groups, and communities. The Nurse Administration concentration provides nurses with a baccalaureate degree who are currently employed in management or administrative positions in health care agencies with preparation to work in a variety of leadership and managerial positions in the health care system. The Nurse Education program provides the baccalaureate nurse with the preparation to assume roles as an educator in academia, health care institutions and the community.
