Admission to the 4-year pre-licensure program will be highly competitive. Four year Nursing applicants do not require any separate application. Please be aware that Admissions applications for this program must be postmarked by February 15, 2012. The first 4-year pre-licensure class graduated in 2010.
Meeting the following minimum conditions does not guarantee acceptance.
-Applicants should have completed 4 years of English, 3 years of Science, 2 years of a foreign language, 2 years of Math, 3 years of history and one additional academic unit prior to being enrolled at RSC.
-SAT scores in the range of 1100-1200
-2 letters of recommendation from high school teachers or advisors are required.
-Special attention will be given to the strength of your high school curriculum, i.e. honors, A.P. courses.
-Transfer students should have an overall GPA of 3.0 with a GPA of 3.2 in science courses.
The Master of Science in Nursing program is designed for the baccalaureate-prepared registered nurse (R.N.) who wishes to pursue a graduate degree with specialty certification as an adult or family nurse practitioner.
The program focuses on the acquisition of knowledge and skills that enable the nurse practitioner to assess, diagnose and treat health problems of the client. Health promotion and disease prevention are also emphasized.
The program encourages self-directed learning and critical thinking. It ensures the graduate student will develop the skills necessary to function as an advanced-practice nurse.
Purposes of the Program:
1. Prepare advanced-practice nurses qualified to sit for national certification.
2. Advance the educational level of nurses to effect improvement in the health care of clients.
3. Encourage continued personal and professional growth.
4. Provide a foundation for continued graduate study.
