Prerequisites in this program will be enforced. All program prerequisites must be completed with a grade of “C” or better. In addition, the combined grade-point average for prerequisites must be 2.5 or higher.

LPN Program Details
The City College Vocational Nursing Program is currently funded by the Regional Occupational Program. Due to legislation implemented over the course of the last 2 years, ROP programs serving adult students are being phased out to allow resources to support K-12 instructional activities. The ROP funding will expire June 30, 2011.
The San Diego Community College District is committed to acquiring additional funding to support the Vocational Nursing Program at City College. If funding is not obtained prior to June 30, 2011, City College will no longer accept new admissions to the Vocational Nursing program until such time as adequate resources are secured.
Nursing is a profession which provides health care to individuals of all ages. Nursing encompasses many activities including health promotion, health maintenance, health care during illness and injury, and rehabilitation. Nurses apply knowledge from the biological, physical, behavioral and nursing sciences to care for clients in varied settings. The purpose of the San Diego City College Vocational Nursing program is to provide an educational opportunity for qualified individuals interested in a career in nursing. Upon successful completion of program requirements, graduates are eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEXPN).
