The Associate in Science Degree Nursing Program (ASN) combines course work on campus with guided clinical experiences in health care agencies in both Manatee and Sarasota counties. There are two methods for completion of the program, the basic approach for students who have no previous nursing course work, and the transition approach for the Licensed Practical Nurse.
Upon successful completion of the program, the graduate is eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN) to become licensed as a registered nurse. On entry into practice, the Associate in Science Degree Nursing graduate is able to use the nursing process to administer care for a group of patients in acute and chronic settings. The graduate functions effectively within the health care team and provides guidance to less skilled workers in the implementation of nursing care.
Our Associate in Science Nursing Program is approved by the Florida Board of Nursing and is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) which is located at 3343 Peachtree Road NE, Suite 850; Atlanta, GA 30326. NLNAC's phone number is 404-975-5000.
The RN-BSN program is designed for current Florida registered nurses (RN) who would like to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. This program incorporates prior nursing education and experience with advanced nursing practice, theory, concepts, and leadership skills. B.S.N. coursework will address topics related to leadership and management, informatics, community and public health, nursing theory and research.
