Or continue your studies for a second year and earn your associate in applied science degree in nursing, qualifying you to sit for the NCLEX exam for registered nurses. Delhi's Associate Degree Nursing program is designed to prepare graduates for entry-level positions as registered nurses. In this two-year program, students learn to take personal responsibility for their patients and to make decisions with regard to the physical, psychological, spiritual and emotional needs of each patient. Direct, holistic patient care is emphasized.
Clinical rotations are scheduled at primary, secondary and tertiary health care settings. The mental health component of the program gives students exposure in both acute care and community treatment programs. Graduates earn an Associate in Applied Science Degree in Nursing and are eligible to take the NCLEX examination for Registered Nurses.
At the completion of the Nursing program, graduates will demonstrate the following:
-Adheres to evidence-base standards of professional practice, is accountable for her/his own actions and behaviors, and practices nursing within legal, ethical, and regulatory frameworks.
-Applies effective communication directed toward promoting positive outcomes and establishing a trusting relationship with diverse populations.
-Collects, integrates and critiques information from a variety of sources, to establish a foundation for provision of nursing care with diverse populations.
-Utilizes effective decision making that results in devising and prioritizing solutions, individualizing care to diverse populations, and assuring the delivery of competent, safe care.
-Integrates caring behaviors and actions which facilitate individuals, families, and diverse populations in achieving their health care goals.
-Designs and evaluates health education to promote and facilitate informed decision making, achieve positive outcomes, and support self-care activities with diverse populations.
-Communicates effectively as advocate, liaison, coordinator, and colleague within the health care team to meet the needs of the individual, family, and diverse populations, as well as organizational outcomes.
-Constructs and coordinates care including human, physical, financial, and technological resources in collaboration with the health care team to support client and organizational outcomes.
