LPN ProgramsLPN Program Details
The Practical Nursing program prepares students for employment as beginning-level staff nurses under the direction of a registered nurse or physician. Employment opportunities are available in a variety of settings, including acute care hospitals, long-term care facilities, physicians' offices and clinics, local public health departments, and home health agencies.
The course of study begins in the Fall Semester at the Pendleton Campus and Spring Semester on the Oconee Campus at the Hamilton Career Center. Courses are offered during the day and limited evening hours. Full-time day students usually complete requirements in two semesters and a Summer Term. General Education courses are offered both day and evening and can be taken with Practical Nursing courses or in any term prior to entering the curriculum.
Completion of Nursing Assistant training is a prerequisite to PNR 110-Fundamentals of Nursing. This requirement can be satisfied with the AHS 117-Patient Care course, the Nurse Aide Certificate course, completion within Health Science Technology core, or work experience with department head approval.
