The Bachelor of Science traditional option prelicensure program has a challenging and carefully organized plan of study that will provide a strong competitive advantage as you prepare for a successful career in nursing. Your education will be firmly based in the liberal arts and the social and biological sciences, and will culminate in an intensive study of the art and science of nursing in both its theoretical and clinical aspects. Class and clinical assignments make the program highly intensive. Full-time students beginning as freshmen can complete the program in four academic years, a total of eight semesters. The sequence of clinical nursing courses requires a minimum of two and a half years of full-time study.
The MS program is designed for the Baccalaureate-prepared registered nurse with a strong professional clinical background and is tailored to meet the needs of the working nurse. Prospective students may take up to four courses as a non matriculated student and transfer in once accepted into the program. Courses are offered both in the classroom and online. Students are permitted to take up to 50% of course work online but all clinical courses are taken in the classroom. All accepted students develope a plan of study with their faculty advisor. Student can attend part time or full time and finish in two years (full time) or three to four years part time. Graduates are eligible to take national certification exams in their specialty area.
The College of Nursing and Health Sciences offers an accelerated nursing option that leads to a bachelor of science in nursing for applicants who already possess a baccalaureate degree in another discipline from an accredited school. This nursing option occurs over a fifteen-month calendar year. Each summer session a new cohort of students will begin. This very competitive admissions process considers students who have completed all of the prerequisites prior to application to this nursing option. This intensive nursing option will make use of adult learning styles and combine online, blended and face-to-face classes. Applicants will be required to make a full-time commitment to their studies while attending the Accelerated Option.
