The Accelerated BSN Program is designed for students who have already earned a bachelor's degree in another field from a regionally-accredited United States college or university and wish to pursue a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. Following completion of the program, students will be eligible to take the NCLEX examination to become a registered nurse.
The Accelerated BSN degree is based on a prerequisite core of general education and basic, behavioral and social sciences required of all students, and 62 pre-licensure credits of nursing coursework offered by the UMDNJ-SN on the Newark or Stratford campuses.
The DNP Program at UMDNJ-SN is for master’s-prepared RNs seeking a doctoral degree. This practice-focused doctorate is an alternative to research-focused doctorates in nursing and is congruent with the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) recommendation that advance practice nursing education transition to the clinical doctorate level. It is a degree preparing individuals for multiple roles. Its target population includes those practitioners whose aim is to attain the highest levels of excellence in practice.
