The UNM-Gallup nursing program is an Associate Degree program with full approval from the New Mexico Board of Nursing through December 2015. Upon successful completion of the program, students are eligible to take the national exam (NCLEX-RN) for RN licensure. Up to 28 qualified students are accepted into the program in January and August. Applications are accepted in the nursing department until the last Friday in October and May for admission the following semester. Prerequisites are to be completed at the time of application. An admission exam (the Test of Essential Academic Skills from Assessment Technologies Institute) is administered to all applicants and admission is based on prerequisite grades as well as performance on the entrance exam.
