ADN Program Details

The Associate of Science in Nursing is offered as a two-year associate degree program and a mobility program for the licensed practical nurse to earn an RN. After completing the program, graduates are eligible for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN). Graduates of the ASN program are prepared for entry level nursing practice in clinically oriented environments.

Graduates of the University of Saint Francis Associate of Science in Nursing Program are prepared for entry level nursing practice as nurse generalists who will:

-Value service and caring behaviors that assist individuals and groups to achieve optimal health.
-Maintain effective communication and collaborative working relationships with clients, significant support persons and members of the heath care team.
-Use the nursing process as a critical thinking framework within diverse health care settings to provide individualized nursing care.
-Demonstrate a commitment to professional growth and life-long learning.
-Integrate related concepts from physical, social and behavioral sciences and humanities with nursing knowledge, evidence-based practice and ethical practice.
-Demonstrate the roles of provider of care, manager of care and active member of the discipline.
-Use technology and information management resources to promote safe and accurate care.

RN to BSN Program Details

The baccalaureate program for registered nurses (RN-BSN program) prepares registered nurses for leadership roles in a variety of health care settings. The curriculum provides an academic background which serves as the basis for graduate education and continued personal and professional growth. The program builds from a liberal arts foundation, integrating nursing knowledge with the humanities, and behavioral and social sciences. Registered nurses who choose to complete the baccalaureate degree are prepared for career advancement in the clinical setting of their choice. Course content in research, leadership and management, and community health nursing introduce students to leadership and management roles and nursing positions in the community Graduates are prepared to make an impact on the current and future health care of society.

The RN-BSN Program is offered in a 20 month online format. All courses are offered in a web-based format via the Internet. Twelve credit hours are completed every 16 weeks. Two classes (six credit hours) are taken every eight weeks. Cohort groups start each fall and move through the curriculum together. The curriculum provides a flexible program of study, recognizing the registered nurse’s previous knowledge and clinical expertise.
Program Goals

The faculty have prepared program goals which flow from the conceptual threads. By completion of the program, graduates will be prepared as nurse generalists and will be able to:

-Integrate concepts of the holistic person and a multidimensional definition of health into nursing practice.
-Integrate critical thinking and evidence-based practice to promote safe, patient centered care into nursing care for individual clients, families, groups, and communities across the life span in a variety of settings.
-Synthesize knowledge from humanities, social and behavioral sciences, and life and physical sciences with nursing theory and practice.
-Foster a caring presence through modifying communication techniques and establishing therapeutic relationships with individuals, families, groups and communities.
-Collaborate with members of the health teams to promote clients’ health and welfare in an ever-changing practice environment.
-Assume a leadership role in directing nursing activities and initiating change to improve health care delivery integrating information and health care technologies within a diverse world.
-Demonstrate legal, and ethical and social responsibility and accountability as a professional nurse.
-Implement a plan for professional growth and development as a member of the nursing profession.
-Evaluate research and integrate evidence based findings to improve nursing practice.

BSN Program Details

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing is offered as a four-year bachelor degree program. After completing the program, graduates are eligible for the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN).

Graduates of the BSN program are prepared for entry level nursing practice in clinically oriented environments.

MSN Program Details

The Master of Science in Nursing degree prepares graduates for advanced practice. The Family Nurse Practitioner curriculum prepares professional nurses to function in advanced practice roles in primary care settings in order to provide holistic, comprehensive nursing care. Courses emphasize health promotion, health protection, and diagnosis and management of common acute and chronic illnesses of individuals, families, and the community. This track consists of 39-48 semester credits and 645 hours of clinical. The Family Nurse Practitioner Track prepares graduates to function in an advanced practice capacity.

The Master of Science in Nursing Program includes: Family Nurse Practitioner track (FNP).

The Family Nurse Practitioner track prepares professional nurses to function in advanced practice roles in primary care settings in order to provide holistic, comprehensive nursing care. Courses emphasize health promotion, health protection, and diagnosis and management of common acute and chronic illnesses of individuals, families, and the community. This track consists of 39-48 semester credits and 645 hours of clinical. The Family Nurse Practitioner Track prepares graduates to function in an advanced practice capacity.

RN to MSN Program Details

The RN-MSN Transition Sequence of courses is intended to prepare the adult ASN or diploma nurse for entrance into the Graduate Nursing Program. Students must be accepted into the Graduate Nursing Program in order to be eligible for the transition sequence of courses. Students enroll as Graduate Nursing students, but are not allowed to take courses toward the graduate nursing degree until the transition courses in the "transition sequence" are satisfactorily completed.
