The RN-BSN Program is offered to registered nurses who are graduates of an accredited associate degree or diploma program in nursing and leads to the Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. This program offers the RN student the opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills needed for professional nursing practice in a wide variety of settings, and provides the educational foundation that is the basis for graduate study in nursing. Registered nurses who meet the admission requirements for the BSN program may complete the program in one calendar year of study.
To meet the needs of working nurses, the classes are available through two options. All classes are available on the Internet. In addition, classes are now available one day a week at the University Center in Greenville on Wednesdays. USC Upstate faculty will conduct all courses and will hold office hours at the University Center.
All RN-BSN students will complete clinicals at times convenient to them and their local preceptors.
Students take a total of 32 semester hours of nursing courses and graduate after one calendar year. Students selecting part-time study may take two years to complete the program.
As a BSN student or pre-BSN student, you will be assigned to an academic advisor. Please check VIP to find the name of your advisor. All of the nursing advisors offices are located in the Health Education Complex. Your advisor will also be available to you for questions or concerns you may have during the year. Advisors' office hours are posted next to their office doors.
Each semester there is a pre-registration period for current USC Upstate students to sign up for the next semester's classes. Notices of advisement and registration periods are posted on campus during the months of October and March. You are responsible for looking for these notices and for making an appointment with your academic advisor to schedule classes for the next semester. Each advisor will have a "sign-up sheet" posted next to their office door listing times and dates they will be available to meet with you.
