A Licensed Practical Nurse is an important member of the health care team who provides patient care under the supervision or direction of a registered nurse, a physician or dentist.
The nursing program is 11 months in length. The school-year begins in August and finishes in June of the following year. Approximately 50% of the time is spent in clinical practice and 50% in the classroom. Clinical experience is received at several local health care facilities. Graduates are eligible to take the State Board of Nursing Licensing Examination for Practical Nurses.
