William Jewell Department of Nursing stands apart due to its strong commitment to liberal arts, leadership and clinical excellence. All nursing students are exposed to the distinctive liberal arts orientation of William Jewell College and are able to understand the notion of mind/body/spirit, not only within the context of nursing, but also through a variety of courses in the liberal studies curriculum. The clear focus on the “whole person” gives William Jewell nursing students a decided advantage in understanding the complexities of the people they will care for as nurses.
Emphasis on clinical excellence shows in over 800 hours of clinical and laboratory learning students experience in addition to their classroom instruction. The effectiveness of our focused curriculum can be measured by the results of the nurse licensing exam students take post-graduation.
Anyone who has completed a BS or BA or higher degree who wants to become a nurse may want to consider William Jewell College’s accelerated track (BSN-AT). The College started its 12-month AT program in 2002 with approval by the Missouri State Board of Nursing, and in 2011 added a 16-month track.
