The first step in becoming a CNA in the District of Columbia is to complete the required amount of course work and hands on training. After completing the educational and training requirements, one is qualified to complete the two-part National Nursing Assistant Assessment Program (NNAAP) exam, which features both a written section and a section in which the student must physically demonstrate CNA skills and procedures.
